This Sunday nearly 150 fabulous green homes will be open across Australia, allowing you to see a diversity of new builds, renovations and learn from the architects/designers & homeowners themselves.
Sustainable House Day aims to inspire thousands of Australians by showing them real-life, practical ways they can make their homes more energy and water efficient.

For Darwin residents pay a visit to our iconic Burnett house to see a lovely tropically designed house. Opening hours are 3-5pm or watch this video.

2015 Sustainable House Day

Sunday September 13th is Sustainable House Day where households across Australia open their doors to share their version of a sustainable house.For 6 years running The Environment Centre’s COOLmob program has hosted a Darwin event, last year’s event was a great success with over 500 visitors to participating homes. COOLmob will not be delivering Darwin’s Sustainable House day in 2015 due to operational funding cuts, but will be back in 2016 thanks to some recently secured funding from the NT EPA.Interested residents can open up their homes in this September to share their version of sustainable living.  Register your interest here .

Super Tuesday Bike Count!

This year, the Super Tuesday Bike Count will be held on Tuesday the 1st of September during morning peak hour.

The count provides participating councils with credible information to assist in improving bike riding infrastructure and facilities in their area so we can get more people cycling more often.  Registrations are now open! To register visit the Super Tuesday website here.

COOLmob’s Greening the Darwin Festival project

COOLmob is excited to announce a new project: Greening the Darwin Festival! Funded by the City of Darwin COOLmob will be developing an emissions baseline for the Darwin Festival -Thanks City of Darwin!

Over the coming week COOLmob’s newest energy expert and Carbon Accountant Nisitha will be developing our methodology and project plan. Welcome Nisitha.

Plastic FREE July!

The challenge is quite simple…attempt to refuse single-use plastic during July.

Plastic Free July aims to raise awareness of the amount of single-use disposable plastic in our lives and challenges people to do something about it. You can sign up for a day, a week or the whole month and try to refuse ALL single-use plastic or try the TOP 4: plastic bags, water bottles, takeaway coffee cups and straws.

Position Description
Evaluation Officer –Smart Cooling in the Tropics

A new position is now available.  Applications Closed.
The Environment Centre NT’s COOLmob program is looking for an Evaluation Officer to support the evaluation and reporting phase of the low income energy efficiency project Smart Cooling in the Tropics. The primary focus of the role will be to deliver evaluation activities and to structure and compile a final evaluation report for the project. This is a 10 month contract position until May 2016, 4 days/week ECNT Band 3 $60,180 pro rata.
