How does it work?
The bulk buy offer period runs for three months from July until September and the more people who sign up, the bigger the discount for all. Note that installations begin immediately - it’s just the final discounted price that is decided at the end of the offer period, based on the number of contracts signed with Northern Solar Solutions (NSS). The area of service for this program is an approximate 25km radius from Darwin CBD, including Palmerston, Humpty Doo, etc.
- To register for the bulk buy, simply click here. Your details will automatically be sent to COOLmob and NSS.
- NSS will call you within ten working days of registering to discuss your needs and arrange a site inspection.
- After the inspection, an order form is completed and a written quote sent to you, noting any special requirements for your Chromagen solar hot water system.
- Once you’ve signed the contract NSS will book a date with you for installation.
- After installation, NSS will process the paperwork for the rebates and RECS.
Northern Solar Solutions will assist you in processing all available rebates:
- The Federal Government’s Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme provides rebates of up to $1,000
- RECS – You will receive Renewable Energy Certificates from the Federal Government which you can sell to NSS, Power & Water or another party of your choice
- Power and Water’s Retrofit Rebate provides up to $1,000 for roof reinforcement and plumbing

As an example, for a standard installation replacing an electric hot water system on a ground level house with iron roof and mains water, prices start from around $2,300 (where all rebates are applicable) but could become even cheaper. If over 100 households sign up for the bulk buy before the end of the offer period, the final price will be even less and all households will receive a refund for the difference, so you don’t get penalised for getting in early. The maximum refund (1,000+ installs) in this scenario would be approximately 7% off the already great price that COOLmob and Northern Solar Solutions have secured for you.
